Explosion kills three government cabinet ministers and reporters Print

Three government ministries, two reporters and other nine university graduates have been killed in an explosion in Mogadishu on Thursday, reports say.

Among the ministries killed in the explosion are, Healthy minister Qamar Aden Ali, Education minister Abdullahi Wayel, and the minister of Higher Education Professor Ibrahim Hassan Adow.

Shabelle radio reporter, Mohamed Aden Abdulle and Al-Arabia TV cameraman, Hassan Subeyr Haji ,were also killed in the explosion.

Witnesses say the ministers and the reporters were attending a graduation ceremony in Shamo Hotel in Mogadishu when the bomb went off.

At least nine graduates have also been killed in the blast which rocked the entire hotel.

So far, no group has claimed the responsibility of the attack in Shamo hotel in Mogadishu.

It is widely believed that al Shabaab militants were behind the attack which looked like a massacre.

The coastal city had been tense after supporters of the national police chief took to the streets in protest following rumours that President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed planned to sack him.
